Design

Trapezoidal screw drives consist of spindles with trapezoidal thread profiles and matching nuts. The trapezoidal shape creates a larger contact area between the spindle and the nut, making the screw drive especially stable and capable of handling high loads.

The trapezoidal lead screws are usually made of hardened or tempered steel and form the core of the system. Trapezoidal nuts (lead nuts), often made of red brass bronze or another high-quality material, ensure optimal sliding properties with minimal friction.

How it works

As the trapezoidal lead screw rotates, the trapezoidal nut moves along the spindle axis carrying with it the component attached to the nut. This mechanism is particularly suitable for applications such as lifting devices, where loads need to be moved with precision.
Thanks to their trapezoidal thread structure, trapezoidal screw drives offer self-locking properties. This prevents the nut from rotating backward under load, providing a significant safety advantage.
