Spindle length

Spindle length is the overall length of a threaded spindle from one end to the other, including the threaded sections and, where applicable, the smooth shaft sections. It determines the travel distance a nut can cover on a spindle, as well as the installation length within the overall system.

Spindle length is crucial for:

  • the maximum stroke or travel of the nut
  • the design of linear motions and axis systems
  • the stiffness and stability of the spindle
  • calculating the required spindle revolutions for a specific travel distance
